Closure of public toilets concerns residents

The city council closed the Westbury village toilets in January and has since boarded them up.

Instead, the council is pushing a “community toilet scheme” that commits cafes and other shops to allow almost anyone into their facilities but with no contribution to the additional costs. So far no Village businesses have signed up.

As a first step, Graham and his team have been contacting cafes in Westbury village to ask if they would be interested in joining the council scheme and how it should be changed to make life easier for small businesses.

Graham says, “We need a proper community toilet scheme, including a council payment to small businesses who take part.”
